Trout Habitat and Survival
Where do trout live? What do they eat? What dangers do they face? Complete these tasks to find out why so few trout eggs survive to adulthood.
- Click on Attachment 1 and Attachment 2 Trout Environmental Needs and Only the Strong Survive sheets and ask your teacher for a copy.
- Read and use 4 Attachments: Attachments 3 through 6 to help you complete the Trout Environmental Needs and Only the Strong Survive sheets. Attachment 3: Eggs, Eggs, Eggs; Attachment 4: Trout Habitat; Attachment 5: Stream Explorers-Stream Ecology; Attachment 6: Stream Explorers-Human Impact.
- Use the information from the Trout Environmental Needs and Only the Strong Survive sheets to create a color poster about trout survival. The poster should focus on one danger that trout, at any life stage, may face in trying to live to adulthood. Use a sheet of regular copy paper, and be sure to include the name of the trout stage and label the dangers.
- If you finish early, look at Attachment 7 and Attachment 8 Rules for Catch the Critters Game and Cards for Catch the Critters Game and get the game from your teacher.
